WILD & LOCAL Foraging Walkabout: Harvest & Prepare Wild Kraut, with Scott Nelson

Spring is an exciting time for foragers in Southern California, especially after a wet winter like the one that we’ve had this year. The creek beds are a veritable salad bar of goodness if you know what you’re looking at. Employing foraged ingredients in your fermented foods incorporates the rich microbiome that exists on wild plants literally re-connecting your gut to nature.
Join local naturalist Scott Nelson as we learn how to identify the abundant edible greens that grow in our very own San Gabriel mountains and then head back to Culture Club 101 for an afternoon of wild sauerkraut preparation.
Sunday, April 14:
Part 1: 8:00 – 11:00 am
Enjoy a beautiful local morning hike and inspiring hands-on class with your friends at Culture Club 101.
Location: Hahamongna Watershed Park, Pasadena, CA.
Park in the lower lot near the baseball field and look for a group gathering near the trail start.
(Kids are welcome to join in on the adventure at no cost!)
Regroup and Lunch Break.
Part 2: 12:00 – 3:00 pm
Re-wild your gut! Take your food fermentation skills to the next level by learning to prepare your freshly harvested wild ingredients.
