Nature’s Wonder Workers: How to Raise Earthworms, with Ben Gellinger & Nenah Bondi
July 28 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Ben Gellinger & Nenah Bondi made a series of radical shifts three years ago to live a more sustainable lifestyle. It began after Ben began looking into alternative diets and learned that eating plant-based not only helped with his stomach inflammation, but also had substantial environmental impacts. Soon after, Ben & Nenah began transitioning to a ‘zero waste’ lifestyle, a philosophy that seeks to minimize the amount of waste generated in the household. Last year, Nenah facilitated a ‘zero waste’ workshop at The Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, as part of her work as an AEG 1Earth Ambassador.
In their free time, Ben & Nenah travel to eco villages to study how sustainability can be amplified through building community. Travels have included visiting the Earthship projects in New Mexico, Arcosanti in Arizona, and the Permaculture Children’s House in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Recently, Ben completed a Permaculture Design Course and started a work-stay project in Los Angeles, re-vitalizing a local family’s garden using regenerative systems. They now divert nearly all of the family’s food waste by utilizing a variety of compost systems around the home. Ben & Nenah are passionate about teaching local communities how to live more sustainably.
