Traditionally simmered bone broth is rich in gelatin, a cornerstone in gut healing protocols. The cells which make up our gut lining use gelatin to heal and seal this system. This allows the body to prevent and/or reverse “leaky gut”. When there is a breakdown of the tight junctions (gateway into the bloodstream) undigested food is able to seep beyond the gut lining, into the bloodstream, creating an inflammatory response in the body. Healing and sealing the gut in conjunction with improving the gut flora with probiotic-rich foods are the foundation for improved immunity, ease of digestion, and thorough assimilation of nutrients.
