An Introduction to Qigong: The Ancient Chinese Healing Art, with Nina Maluda

Qigong is an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention. The word “Qi” is translated to mean life force or vital energy that flows through all things in the universe. “Gong” means accomplishment or skill cultivated through steady practice. Often called a moving meditation because of it’s characteristic slow and gentle movements, Qigong is truly a Mind-Body-Spirit practice suited for everyone to maintain health and increase vitality.

In this introduction to Qigong workshop, Nina will guide us as we experience one of the oldest known Qigong forms the Ba Duan Jin or Eight Treasures Qigong. It is a sequence of 8 health promoting exercises that highlight specific areas of the body. We will also enjoy the Great Spiraling Dragon Qigong form. This is a simple flowing form that originated in the Wudang mountains.

Because Qigong is considered a low impact exercise it can also be done seated for those who might benefit from extra support. No prior experience is necessary for this workshop. Nina will also include some simple exercises that you can take with you to add to our own wellness practice. Come join us in this magical exploration of Qi through the practice of Qigong!
Nina is an artist, teacher, healer and entrepreneur whose passion for spiritual exploration and self expression has led her on many adventures around the world. She has travelled to China to study Chen family Tai Chi and to Chile to study Qigong. She spent many years assisting and working with a Shaman healer traveling to Costa Rica, Canada, Trinidad and Mongolia.
In 2009 Nina found the life changing practices of Tai Chi and Qigong taught by Master teacher Kim Ivy at her school, Embrace the Moon. A new commitment to wellness practices and aging wisely led her into a 3 year Qigong teacher training program that included the principals of Yin/Yang theory and Chinese medicine, as well as the basics of Taoist philosophy. She continues to deepen her study of both Qigong and Tai Chi through daily practice and intensive training with world renowned teachers. Nina is also a longtime practitioner of yoga. She finds that it supports her Qigong practice as they both focus on the healing powers of connecting movement with breath and connecting mind and body through honoring the spirit with ceremony.
Nina incorporates her love of art, movement and healing into Stone + Feather.
Each of the workshop, experiences and sacred creations she offers are inspired by Nature and guided by Spirit.
